General Labour / Recycling Sorter

Scotia Recycling Limited, Atlantic Canada's leading paper recycling facility is seeking a conscientious, personable individual to join their Kentville, Nova Scotia team. This is a temporary position with an opportunity for a full-time position with benefits. Scotia Recycling Ltd. is a committed to protecting our environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Load, unload, sort and move recyclables and materials by hand on sort-line. Standing up to two hours at a time.
  • Load, unload, sort and move recyclables and material with material handling equipment.
  • Must be able to complete medium work (up to 50lbs).
  • Must be able to do light work at a fast pace.
  • Good housekeeping skills are required.


Education and/or experience:

  • Must be safety conscious
  • Friendly and courteous interaction with coworkers and contractors
  • Ability to work in hot and cold weather
  • Possesses good hand/eye coordination.
  • Attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Capable of multitasking and working in a fast paced team environment
  • Mobile equipment (forklift, skid-steer, etc.) experience/certification is an asset but not a requirement.

Facility Operations Supervisor – Recycling Depot Paradise NL

companies, is an operator of Atlantic Canada’s leading recycling facilities located in Nova
Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland. With an approximate workforce of 200 dedicated
employees, we specialize in the collection, processing, sales, and brokerage of recyclable
materials, and are a proven industry leader that have been in operation since 1976.

Position Overview

Reporting to the General Manager of Newfoundland Labrador Operations, the Supervisor’s
primary responsibilities include the daily management and coordination of the facility’s
operations including, production, inventory and maintenance while ensuring compliance with all
labour, safety, environmental and corporate policies and relevant regulations.
Responsibilities Include:

• Act as a safety champion and lead by example
• Lead, motivate and supervise a team on day-to-day production activities
• Drive efficient processing of incoming recyclable materials while ensuring product quality
standards
• Organize and coordinate warehouse tasks/activities/scheduling
• Load, unload, sort and move products and materials by hand or with material handling
equipment, as required to support team
• Leadership, Training and Development of facility staff

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a supervisory role with knowledge in operations
planning and equipment maintenance
• Post-secondary education (preferred)
• Excellent people leader with time management and organizational skills with the ability
to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrates appropriate interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail with strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Computer skills: working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products
• Must hold and maintain a valid Class 5 drivers’ license.

Production Worker - Bottle Depot - Kentville, NS


Production Worker - Bottle Depot - Flexible Hours and Schedule Options

 
Our state of the art Marterials Recycling Facility in Kentville has an immediate need for 4-8 Production Workers to work specifically on our bottle sorting line. We are open to a varietry of scheduling requests as long as you can work at least 16 hours per week and in shifts no less than 4 hours. This contract is expected to run for 4-6 months and could lead to permenant employment opportunities.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Work in safe and efficient manner always
  • Must be able to move products and materials by hand or with material handling equipment in an efficient and careful manner
  • Must be aware of surroundings and be alert.
  • Visual inspections and responsible to report any deficiencies, damage with equipment including pre-shift reports on daily basis.
  • Report all incidents/accidents and illness immediately to a supervisor.
  • Must wear required PPE and adhere to all safety regulations and policies/procedures.
  • Must keep work area tidy and clean (no clutter), ensuring the area around their feet is clear and tools are put away.
  • Takes a positive approach to work assignments and treats co-workers, customers and management with tact and respect.
  • Must follow all company Policies and Regulations.
  • All other duties assigned by supervisor that are safe and reasonable.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to bend, stand and walk for extended periods of time, some twisting, squatting, lifting and climbing.
  • Possesses hand eye coordination.
  • Ability to understand written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to learn repetitive duties quickly and carry them through independently.
  • Must be able to work in hot and cold weather and able to complete light to medium work (periodically lifting up to 30 lbs).

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an industrial building, at times amid noise levels (under 85 dBA), moving mechanical parts, in conditions such as high humidity, odors, dust and exposure to hot and cold temperatures. Some work is outside, in all weather conditions.

Personal Protective Equipment Required:

  • Steel-toe boots (CSA approved)

Personal Protective Equipment Provided:

  • Gloves
  • Safety glasses (CSA approved)
  • Safety vest
  • Hearing protection required (at 85 dBA and above)
